Getting Started
Do I need a referral to book a Maana Wellness treatment?
No. You can book a free consultation directly — no referral needed. Your physiotherapist will assess your goals and recommend a treatment or program from there.
What happens at the free consultation?
A physiotherapist reviews your goals, health history, and relevant symptoms, then recommends whether a bundle, ongoing Maana Credits, or a specific single treatment fits your situation best.
Is Maana Wellness the same as Maana Spine, Joint & Wellness Clinics?
Maana Wellness is the preventive and elective wellness arm operating within Maana Spine, Joint & Wellness Clinics — same locations, same clinical team, focused on performance, recovery, aesthetics, longevity, and women’s wellness alongside the core clinical spine and joint practice.
Maana Credits & Pricing
How does Maana Credits work?
Maana Credits is a flexible credit system usable across every treatment and location. Buy a one-time credit pack or a monthly membership, then redeem credits against whichever treatments you choose. Full details, including current pricing, are on the Maana Credits page.
Should I choose a bundle or Maana Credits?
A bundle is a structured, physiotherapist-recommended program built around a specific goal, with the schedule and treatment mix already decided. Credits are the flexible alternative if you’d rather choose treatments as you go. Many clients use both — a bundle for a specific issue, then credits for ongoing maintenance.
Do Maana Credits work at every location, including Rally Labs?
Credits work across all Maana Wellness clinic locations. Rally Labs access specifically depends on your credit pack tier — see the Maana Credits page for which tiers include it.
Choosing the Right Treatment
I have back or neck pain — where should I start?
Start with a consultation focused on spinal decompression or, if the pain is muscle/trigger-point related rather than disc-related, ESWT for trigger point release. Your physiotherapist can help determine which fits your specific symptoms — the two are commonly used together.
What’s the difference between ESWT and manual muscle release techniques (like AMRT)?
ESWT uses a device to deliver consistent, repeatable acoustic energy to a treatment area. Manual techniques use a therapist’s hands to locate and release adhesions directly. Both target similar issues — trigger points and muscle tension — through different mechanisms. Neither is universally better; they’re different approaches that can even complement each other.
I want body toning — should I choose EMS, ESWT+Cryo, or the ABT+EMS weight program?
These serve different goals. Body toning & shaping (ESWT + Cryo + EMS) targets specific areas for contouring and firmness alongside an existing healthy routine. The ABT + EMS weight management program is built specifically for weight loss through a dietician-led behavioral program, with EMS as physical support rather than the primary mechanism. If your main goal is overall weight loss, start with ABT+EMS; if it’s targeted shaping alongside a routine you already have, start with body toning.
What’s the difference between HBOT for sports recovery and HBOT for healthy aging?
The treatment itself is the same — breathing high-concentration oxygen in a pressurized chamber. The difference is the goal and context: sports recovery HBOT targets a specific injury or recovery need, while HBOT for healthy aging focuses on general cellular recovery and inflammation support as part of an ongoing wellness approach.
Is cryotherapy the same as an ice bath or cold plunge?
Not quite — they’re related but different. Localised cryotherapy (used in the body toning program) targets specific treatment areas with concentrated cold exposure. The sauna + cold plunge at Rally Labs is full-body cold water immersion, typically paired with heat exposure as contrast therapy. Both use cold for recovery-related benefits, but the method and typical use case differ.
Pain & Recovery
Does spinal decompression actually work?
The evidence is genuinely mixed — it’s more supported as an addition to standard physical therapy than as a standalone cure. Read our full, honestly-graded evidence review of spinal decompression for the details.
Does ESWT work for trigger points?
Multiple independent studies show ESWT reduces pain versus placebo, though it hasn’t been clearly shown to outperform manual techniques like dry needling. See our ESWT evidence review for the full picture.
Performance & Body
Does EMS actually build muscle?
Yes — this is one of the better-evidenced treatments we offer, with large, statistically significant effects on muscle mass and strength in a proper meta-analysis. The same research found no significant fat-loss effect, which is why EMS is positioned as toning/strength support rather than a weight-loss tool on its own. Full detail in our EMS evidence review.
Is the Peak Performance program only for competitive athletes?
No — it’s built for anyone with an active lifestyle, from regular gym-goers to weekend athletes, not exclusively competitive or professional athletes.
Women’s Wellness
Does the pelvic floor chair actually work?
Yes, with real supporting evidence — multiple randomized trials show improvement in stress urinary incontinence, backed by both patient-reported outcomes and objective physiological measurement. See our pelvic floor chair evidence review.
Is pelvic floor therapy only for postpartum recovery?
No — postnatal recovery is common, but pelvic floor therapy also treats stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse symptoms, and general core weakness at any life stage.
Weight Management
Does Acceptance-based Behavioral Therapy (ABT) actually work better than a regular diet plan?
In the field’s key randomized controlled trial, ABT produced significantly greater weight loss than standard behavioral treatment at 12 months. See our ABT evidence review for the full study detail and its limitations.
Is this program the same as medical weight loss (Ozempic, Mounjaro, bariatric surgery)?
No. This is a behavioral and lifestyle program, not a medical or prescription pathway. If you’re exploring GLP-1 medications or bariatric surgery, that requires physician-led care, which is a different service than what this program provides.
Longevity
Does HBOT actually reverse aging?
No credible research currently supports that specific claim, even though it’s sometimes used in wellness marketing. What the research does show is more specific: measurable, positive changes in cellular aging markers like telomere length and skin collagen density, in small but real studies. Full detail in our HBOT healthy aging evidence review.
Recovery at Rally Labs
What’s the difference between Maana Wellness clinics and Maana Wellness at Rally Labs?
The clinics offer the full range of clinical and wellness treatments. Rally Labs, located inside Kochi’s Rally Labs sports facility, is a dedicated recovery space offering sauna, cold plunge, and contrast therapy alongside the sports courts (pickleball, padel, football, basketball).
Do I need a Maana Credits membership to use Rally Labs, or can I pay per visit?
Both options are available — single walk-in sessions, or ongoing access through a Maana Credits membership at the Standard tier or above.
