50+ Wellness: Strength, Mobility, and Pain Relief for Your 50s, 60s, and Beyond
Staying strong and mobile after 50 isn’t about slowing down — it’s about giving your body what it actually needs as it changes: more targeted strength work, more attention to balance, and faster, better-managed recovery from pain. The same physiotherapist-led, evidence-based approach we use for every client, matched to this stage of life.

What changes after 50 — and what we do about it
This is a reweighting of services we already offer, not a new clinical program — and it doesn’t cover chronic-disease management (diabetes, hypertension, and similar conditions stay out of scope; if that’s what you need, that’s a different kind of care than what we provide). Six things commonly change with age, and here’s what addresses each one.
What’s included
EMS for Muscle Loss (Sarcopenia)
From around age 30, adults lose roughly 3–5% of muscle mass per decade, faster after 60. The strongest research behind EMS’s muscle-building effect comes from older, non-athletic populations — if you’re 50+, EMS is arguably better-evidenced for you than for a younger gym-goer.
Balance and Fall-Risk Training
Falls become a real medical concern with age. Balance training combined with muscle strengthening measurably reduces fall risk — this is what our physio-led stretching and mobility sessions are built around for this age group, not general flexibility work.
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression & ESWT
Back and neck pain, joint pain, and disc-related issues become more common with age. Spinal decompression and ESWT for trigger points and muscle tension are the same treatments we offer everyone — for this audience, they’re often the first stop, not a last resort.
Pelvic Floor Therapy
Stress urinary incontinence becomes significantly more common with age, independent of childbirth history. Pelvic floor therapy isn’t only a postnatal-recovery service — it’s relevant to anyone experiencing these symptoms at any life stage.
HBOT for Healthy Aging
Our HBOT for healthy aging program is built around real, cited research on inflammation and cellular markers — with honest limits stated rather than “reverses aging” marketing claims.
Muscle-Preserving Nutrition
Our in-house nutritionist can build a protein-focused, muscle-preserving nutrition plan — genuinely different from our ABT weight-management program, which is built around weight loss specifically. Say so at your consultation if maintaining strength and muscle, not losing weight, is your goal.
Who this is for
Anyone 50+ who wants to stay strong, mobile, and independent — not just people already dealing with a specific problem.
People noticing early signs of strength or balance decline, before it becomes a fall or an injury.
Anyone managing ongoing back, neck, or joint pain who hasn’t found lasting relief.
People whose adult children (including those living abroad) want them to have consistent, coordinated physiotherapist-led care rather than one-off treatments.
How 50+ Wellness works
Every client starts with the same free physiotherapist consultation we use for every service — an assessment of strength, balance, mobility, and pain, not a generic intake form. From there, your physiotherapist recommends a combination of the services above, using Maana Credits or a bundle, the same as any other program on our site. There’s no separate “senior” pricing tier or package — you get the same modalities, credits, and bundles everyone else does, matched to what your assessment shows.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a medical program for managing conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure?
No. Maana Wellness for 50+ is a physiotherapist-led strength, mobility, and pain-relief program — it does not manage chronic medical conditions like diabetes or hypertension. If you’re looking for that kind of coordinated medical care, that’s a different kind of service than what we offer.
Is EMS safe for someone in their 60s or 70s?
EMS is generally well-studied and used across a wide age range, but your physiotherapist will assess your specific health history before recommending it, the same as with any client.
Do I need to already have a mobility problem to start, or can I do this preventively?
Either. Many clients start before they have a specific problem, specifically to maintain strength and balance rather than wait for a decline to become an issue.
How is this different from home physiotherapy or senior home-care services?
This is clinic-based, physiotherapist-led care combining multiple evidence-based modalities — not a home-visit service. If you need in-home care specifically, that’s a different kind of provider than what we offer.
Can my son or daughter, including if they live abroad, be involved in understanding my treatment plan?
Discuss this directly with your physiotherapist at your consultation — arrangements can be made on a case-by-case basis, though this isn’t a built-in feature of the program the way it might be with some other providers.
