A Weight Management Program Built to Actually Last
Most weight loss programs are judged on how much you lose. Ours is built around whether you keep it off. The Maana Wellness weight management program pairs Acceptance-based Behavioral Therapy (ABT) — a dietician-led, clinically studied approach to sustainable behavior change — with EMS muscle toning to support the physical side of your progress.

What Makes This Different
Acceptance-based Behavioral Therapy (ABT) is not a diet plan. It’s a structured, evidence-based approach delivered by our nutritionists and dieticians, built on published behavioral research into why weight loss programs typically fail long-term: not from lack of willpower, but from environments and habits that make it hard to sustain change. ABT focuses on building distress-tolerance and mindful eating skills alongside your nutrition plan, rather than relying on restriction alone.
EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) sessions support muscle toning and strength as part of your program — helping maintain lean muscle through the process, which matters for long-term metabolic health. EMS is a support to the behavioral program, not a stand-alone weight-loss mechanism on its own.
This combination — a named, dietician-delivered behavioral methodology plus supervised EMS — isn’t something we found being offered together anywhere else in Kochi’s weight management market when we researched the competitive landscape.
Who This Is For

- Anyone who has lost weight before and gained it back
- People who find restrictive diets unsustainable
- Anyone looking for a dietician-led program rather than a self-directed app or generic diet plan
- People who want physical support (muscle toning) alongside behavioral change, not instead of it
This program is not medical weight loss or bariatric care. If you’re exploring GLP-1 medications (Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy) or bariatric surgery, that’s a different, physician-led pathway — we’re happy to point you toward the right resource if that’s what you need.
How It Works
- Initial consultation with a nutritionist/dietician to assess your history, goals, and what hasn’t worked before
- ABT sessions — 24 sessions with your nutritionist/dietician: twice a week for the first 4 weeks, then biweekly for the remainder of the program
- EMS sessions — run alongside ABT, once or twice a week depending on your individual plan
- Ongoing review — your dietician adjusts the plan as you progress, with a specific focus on maintenance, not just initial loss

What is Acceptance-based Behavioral Therapy (ABT) for weight loss?
ABT is a dietician-delivered, clinically studied behavioral approach to weight management that combines standard nutrition and lifestyle coaching with acceptance-based psychological techniques — building distress tolerance and mindful eating skills to address why weight is regained after typical diet programs end. It was developed and studied in academic research settings including at Drexel University.
Is ABT the same as a diet plan?
No. A diet plan tells you what to eat. ABT is a behavioral program that addresses the habits, emotional patterns, and environment that make sticking to any eating plan difficult over time. It’s typically delivered alongside a personalized nutrition plan, not instead of one.
How many sessions does the ABT program include?
The program is delivered across 24 sessions with your nutritionist/dietician: twice weekly for the first 4 weeks, then biweekly for the rest of the program.
How often are EMS sessions?
EMS sessions run once or twice a week alongside your ABT program. The exact number and frequency is set individually based on your plan.
How is this different from typical weight loss programs?
Published research on ABT and standard behavioral weight-loss programs shows they often produce comparable initial weight loss, but ABT-style programs are specifically studied for producing significantly less weight regain in the years after treatment ends. The focus is on maintenance, not just the number on the scale during the program.
What does EMS have to do with weight loss?
EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) supports muscle toning and helps maintain lean muscle mass during a weight management program. It is not a weight-loss mechanism by itself — it’s included as physical support alongside the behavioral and nutritional program, not as a replacement for it.
Is this program suitable if I want to use Ozempic, Mounjaro, or another weight-loss medication?
This program is a behavioral and lifestyle approach, not a medical weight-loss or prescription pathway. If you’re considering GLP-1 medications or bariatric surgery, that requires physician-led care, which is a different service than what this program provides.
