Pelvic Floor Therapy in Perinthalmanna, Without the Guesswork
Pelvic floor issues are common and treatable, but in a town where physiotherapy usually means a general hospital department, it’s easy to assume there’s nowhere dedicated to ask. Maana Wellness offers physio-led pelvic floor strengthening, combining hands-on assessment with a focused electromagnetic pelvic floor chair, for postnatal recovery, urinary incontinence, and core stability.

What Brings People In
Pelvic floor dysfunction looks different for everyone. Common reasons clients come to us:
- Stress urinary incontinence (leaking when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise)
- Postnatal recovery and core reconnection after pregnancy
- Pelvic organ prolapse symptoms (heaviness, pressure)
- General core weakness affecting posture and lower back pain
- Preparing the body ahead of pregnancy or a return to exercise
Not sure whether what you’re feeling is pelvic floor–related? That’s exactly what the consultation is for.
What Treatment Looks Like

Your first visit is a physiotherapist-led assessment, not a chair session on day one. We evaluate pelvic floor strength, core coordination, and posture before recommending a plan.
The Pelvic Floor Chair: Fully clothed, you sit while the chair delivers focused electromagnetic pulses, contracting the pelvic floor muscles thousands of times per session — well beyond what a voluntary Kegel exercise can achieve alone. A minimum of 6 sessions is required, spaced 4–5 days apart so the muscle can recover between sessions.
Physio-led, not machine-only: sessions come with guided exercises and progress tracking. A physiotherapist reviews your progress and adjusts the plan as you go.
Why Maana Wellness
Pelvic floor care here tends to be split across a few individually listed physiotherapists, general hospital rehab departments that treat it as one of many specialties, or online-only consultants who aren’t locally based — especially relevant for the town’s Gulf-return and NRI residents who often can’t easily follow up remote consultations in person. Maana Wellness brings pelvic floor care into one dedicated, physio-led programme, with electromagnetic technology on-site, inside a clinic built around evidence-based, non-surgical treatment.
For Postpartum Recovery: A Next-Step Option
For clients focused on postpartum recovery, Maana Wellness also offers HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) as a follow-on option alongside pelvic floor strengthening — general tissue recovery support alongside pelvic floor rebuilding. It isn’t necessary for everyone; your physiotherapist will discuss whether it fits your specific recovery goals at your consultation.

FAQ
Is pelvic floor therapy only for women after childbirth?
No. While postnatal recovery is one of the most common reasons people seek pelvic floor therapy, it also treats stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse symptoms, and general core weakness in anyone, at any life stage — not exclusively postnatal.
What is the pelvic floor chair and how is it different from doing Kegel exercises at home?
The pelvic floor chair uses focused electromagnetic technology to cause thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions in a single session. Voluntary Kegel exercises typically only activate a fraction of the muscle fibres a person can consciously engage, so the chair is designed to reach a level of muscle activation that’s difficult to achieve through self-directed exercise alone.
Do I need to undress for a pelvic floor chair session?
No. You remain fully clothed throughout the session, seated on the chair.
How many sessions does pelvic floor therapy typically involve?
A minimum of 6 sessions is required, spaced 4–5 days apart to allow the muscles to recover between sessions. Your physiotherapist may recommend more based on your initial assessment and goals.
Is pelvic floor therapy painful?
No. Both the physio-led manual assessment and the chair sessions are non-invasive and are not designed to cause pain. Some people feel a strong muscle contraction sensation during chair sessions, which is expected and not painful.
Can I combine pelvic floor therapy with HBOT for postpartum recovery?
Yes. For clients focused on postpartum recovery specifically, HBOT can be added alongside pelvic floor strengthening as a next-step option to support general tissue recovery. Your physiotherapist will discuss whether this fits your goals at your consultation — it’s not required for everyone doing pelvic floor therapy.
