What Pelvic Floor Therapy Treats

Pelvic floor dysfunction shows up differently for everyone. Common reasons clients come to us:

  • Stress urinary incontinence (leaking when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise)
  • Postnatal recovery and core reconnection after pregnancy
  • Pelvic organ prolapse symptoms (heaviness, pressure)
  • General core weakness affecting posture and lower back pain
  • Preparing the body ahead of pregnancy or a return to exercise

If you’re not sure whether what you’re experiencing is pelvic floor-related, that’s exactly what the consultation is for.

How It Works

Maana Wellness clinic setting

Your first visit is a physiotherapist-led assessment — not a chair session on day one. We evaluate pelvic floor strength, core coordination, and posture before recommending a plan.

The Pelvic Floor Chair: You sit fully clothed while the chair delivers focused electromagnetic pulses that contract the pelvic floor muscles thousands of times per session — far more than a voluntary Kegel exercise can achieve on its own. A minimum of 6 sessions is required, spaced 4–5 days apart to allow the muscle to recover between sessions.

Why Maana Wellness

Maana Wellness brings pelvic floor care into a dedicated, physio-led programme with electromagnetic technology on-site, inside a clinic built around evidence-based, non-surgical treatment — assessment-led, not a one-size-fits-all package.

For Postpartum Recovery: A Next-Step Option

HBOT is available alongside pelvic floor strengthening as a next-step option for postpartum recovery specifically. Your physiotherapist will discuss whether it fits your goals.

FAQ

Is pelvic floor therapy only for women after childbirth?

No — it also treats stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse symptoms, and general core weakness at any life stage, not exclusively postnatal.

What is the pelvic floor chair and how is it different from Kegel exercises at home?

The chair causes thousands of supramaximal muscle contractions per session — far more than voluntary exercise achieves alone.

Do I need to undress for a session?

No, you remain fully clothed throughout the session.

How many sessions will I need?

A minimum of 6 sessions is required, spaced 4–5 days apart; your physiotherapist may recommend more based on assessment.

Is it painful?

No — it’s non-invasive. Some people feel a strong contraction sensation, which is expected, not painful.

Can I combine this with HBOT for postpartum recovery?

Yes, as a next-step option — this is discussed at your consultation.
